Damage to the valve cartridge caused by debris is not covered by the Hansgrohe warranty. • The cartridge comes in the box with the trim kit. The rough is equipped with a flush insert that will allow the unit to be pressurized while preventing cross flow. • This rough must be completed with a suitable trim kit. • No drain is included with either this rough or the trim kit. Contact the manufacturer of the lavatory for their recommendations regarding suitable drains. Tool suggested for installation (not included): socket wrench with 17 mm and 27 mm deep sockets Positioning the Rough The intended spout should reach far enough into the bowl so that the water hits just ahead of or just behind the drain (to minimize splashing). The rough should be placed high enough on the wall so that the end of the spout is above the flood level of the sink. Many municipalities require an air gap of at least one inch between the end of the spout and the flood level of the sink -- know and follow all applicable local codes regarding the air gap. suggested installation plaster shields flush insert cartridge cover spout outlet plug Installation Instructions This valve can be installed so that the handle is either to the right or to the left of the spout. This decision must be made prior to installation, as it cannot be changed at a later date without re- plumbing. To insure proper fit of the trim, the valve should be installed so that the outside surface of the finished wall falls between the minimum and maximum markings on the plaster shields. handle on right handle on left Install the grommets to the nailing in flanges on the valve body. If space permits, screw or nail the flanges to stud or header board to support the valve. Flush the Valve Remove the protective caps. Use a 17 mm deep socket wrench to remove the spout outlet plug. Install a hose bibb and hose (not included). Direct the hose to a location where water can do no damage. Turn the water on to the valve and flush for 5 minutes. Turn the water off. Use a 27 mm deep socket wrench to remove the cartridge cover. Remove the flush insert. Turn the flush insert 180o. Replace the flush insert and the cartridge cover. Tighten the cartridge cover with the deep socket wrench. Turn on the water again and flush for another 5 minutes. Turn off the water. Remove the hose and hose bibb. Reinstall the spout outlet plug. Do not allow any cleaner to remain on the product for longer than necessary. • Regular cleaning will prevent scale buildup and water spotting. • When using spray cleaners, spray first onto a sponge or cloth. Do not spray directly onto the faucet or shower product as drops could enter openings or gaps and cause damage. • After cleaning, rinse thoroughly with clear water to remove any cleaner residue. Important Residues of liquid soaps, shampoos, and shower foams can also cause damage, so rinse with clean water after using.
