Lens Correction Data The camera already contains lens peripheral illumination correction data and chromatic aberration correction data for approx. 25 lenses. If you select [Enable], the peripheral illumination correction and chromatic aberration correction will be applied automatically for any lens whose correction data is registered in the camera. With EOS Utility (provided software), you can check which lenses have their correction data registered in the camera. You can also register the correction data for unregistered lenses. For details, refer to the EOS Utility Instruction Manual (p.157) on the Software Instruction Manual CD-ROM. 109 5 Advanced Operations In Creative Zone modes, you can set the shutter speed and/ or aperture to set the exposure as desired. This is called Program AE. * stands for Program. * AE stands for Auto Exposure. 1 Set the Mode Dial to . 2 Focus the subject. ..Look through the viewfinder and aim the AF point over the subject. Then press the shutter button halfway. • When focus is achieved, the focus confirmation light on the viewfinder’s bottom right will light up (when in One-Shot AF mode). • The shutter speed and aperture will be set automatically and displayed in the viewfinder and on the LCD panel. 3 Check the display. ..A standard exposure will be obtained as long as the shutter speed and aperture display do not blink. 4 Take the picture. ..Compose the shot and press the shutter button completely. s: Shutter-Priority AE In this mode, you set the shutter speed and the camera automatically sets the aperture to obtain the standard exposure suiting the brightness of the subject. This is called shutter-priority AE. A faster shutter speed can freeze the action or a moving subject. A slower shutter speed can create a blurred effect, giving the impression of motion. * stands for Time value. Blurred motion Frozen action (Slow shutter speed: 1/30 sec.) (Fast shutter speed: 1/2000 sec.) 1 Set the Mode Dial to . 2 Set the desired shutter speed. ..While looking at the LCD panel, turn the <6> dial. 3 Focus the subject. ..Press the shutter button halfway. • The aperture is set automatically. 4 Check the viewfinder display and shoot. ..As long as the aperture is not blinking, a standard exposure will be obtained. 111 f: Aperture-Priority AE In this mode, you set the desired aperture and the camera sets the shutter speed automatically to obtain the standard exposure suiting the subject brightness. This is called aperture-priority AE. A higher f/ number (smaller aperture hole) will make more of the foreground and background fall within acceptable focus. On the other hand, a lower f/ number (larger aperture hole) will make less of the foreground and background fall within acceptable focus. * stands for Aperture value (aperture opening). Blurred background(With a low aperture f/number: f/5.6) Sharp foreground and background (With a high aperture f/number: f/32) 1 Set the Mode Dial to . 2 Set the desired aperture. ..While looking at the LCD panel, turn the <6> dial. 3 Focus the subject. ..Press the shutter button halfway. • The shutter speed is set automatically. 4 Check the viewfinder display and shoot. ..As long as the shutter speed is not blinking, a standard exposure will be obtained. a: Manual Exposure In this mode, you set both the shutter speed and aperture as desired.
