(B) 3. Remove the Lid from the Travel Mug and add sweetener, cream, or milk to the Mug before brewing; replace the Lid. Place the Mug on the Mug Rest directly under the Filter Basket opening. 4. Push the Start Lever and the “On” Light will glow. (C) The Coffeemaker and On Light will turn off automatically when the brewing is done. Allow the coffee to finish dripping from the unit before removing your Travel Mug. When you remove the Mug, be careful not to tip it over as hot liquid will spill out. NOTE: There will be slightly less coffee in your Travel Mug than the amount of water added as the grounds absorb some of the liquid. 5. Your Coffeemaker can also be used to brew hot water for other hot beverages such as tea, hot chocolate, instant oatmeal and soups. Be sure the Permanent Filter and Filter Basket have been washed in hot, sudsy water and rinsed well. Replace the Filter and Basket and repeat the brewing process (without adding grounds) to brew hot water into the Travel Mug. CAUTION: Be careful when opening the Reservoir Cover after brewing as this area is hot and steamy. Use the Lift Tab located on the front of the Coffeemaker Reservoir Cover. 6. The Travel Mug may also be used for carrying cold beverages. 1. Be sure the Coffeemaker is OFF and has cooled. Clean the Filter Basket, Permanent Filter, Travel Mug and Lid in the Dishwasher — top rack only — or in hot, sudsy water. 2. Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth and dry. Do not use abrasive soaps or scouring pads. Never immerse the Coffeemaker in water or place in a dishwasher. The black body of the coffeemaker may develop a white film. Simply wipe with a dry cloth to restore the shine. 3. Parts washed in a dishwasher may appear to fade. To restore the original color, polish with a soft, dry cloth. 4. To clean inside the Reservoir Cover, pull the Water Spreader down and wipe the surfaces with a damp cloth. (D) After cleaning, snap the Water Spreader back it into place. CLEANING MINERAL DEPOSITS 1. Mineral deposits left by hard water can clog your Coffeemaker. It is time to clean the unit if it shuts off before all the water has pumped through the system (some water left in the Reservoir) or if you notice excessive steaming. The frequency of flushing out deposits is affected by your usage and water hardness — average is approximately once every 3 months. During cleaning, more steaming occurs than when brewing coffee and there may be some spitting. 2. Fill the Mug half way with white vinegar and then to the top with cold water. Pour this into the Water Reservoir. Place the Mug on the Mug Rest. 3. Press the Start Lever and let the cleaning solution brew through until the unit shuts off automatically. Repeat the process using a new solution; do not reuse the first solution. 4. Use the mug to fill the reservoir with cold water and brew the plain water through to flush out any remaining solution. You may have to repeat the plain water cycle to remove any remaining vinegar taste. Wash and dry the Permanent Filter, Filter Basket, Lid, and Mug. Care & Cleaning ELECTRICAL CORD The cord length of this coffeemaker was selected to reduce safety hazards that may occur with a longer cord. If more cord length is needed, an extension cord may be used. It should be rated not less than 10 amperes, 120 volts, and should have Underwriters Laboratories listing. When using a longer cord, be sure that it does not drape over a working area or dangle where it could be pulled on or tripped over.
