Face the back of the cpu, and connect the power cord to the slot located at the upper left of the machine. Connect the keyboard cable to its port located on the left outside port beneath the power cord. Connect the mouse cable to its port located to the right of the keyboard cable. Connect the monitor cable to the port located in middle of the lower third section of the cpu. Now plug both the cpu's power cord and the monitor's power cord into your electrical source. NOTE: Connect other components, such as a printer, according to the instructions included with the device. While facing the front of the cpu, you may find: The optional optical drive (if installed) is located at the top of the machine. Below the drive are its activity lights, located on the left, and the eject button, located on the right, near the edge of the machine. Next are two 5.25 inch drive bays one underneath the other. Below these drive bays may be an optional 3.5 inch diskette drive with its activity light and eject button just below it. To the right of the 3.5 inch slot are the power button, the "power on" light (located just above the button), and the hard drive activity light (located below the button). At the right edge of the machine, below the power button, are two USB ports, followed by a headphone connector, microphone connector, and optional IEEE-1394 connector, respectively. Face the back of the cpu and picture the machine to be divided into three vertical sections. In the first section, beginning at the top left is the voltage select switch. Below the switch is the power cord connector. In the second section, near the left edge, is the ps/2 keyboard connector and to the right of the keyboard connector is the ps/2 mouse connector. Beneath the keyboard connector are two serial connectors, and under the mouse connector is a parallel connector. Following the serial connectors is a universal serial bus connector and to the right of the USB port is the rj-45 network connector. Below the USB port (in a horizontal formation) are a microphone connector (at left edge), a line-out connector, and a line-in audio connector. In the third section near the horizontal middle of the machine, is the graphics adapter or monitor port.
