This room air conditioner can be installed to a sliding window using the installation kit type ME-68S manufactured by Nationwide Manufacturing Ltd. (as an optional kit). IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS The following are important instructions to be observed, in order to prevent malfunctions or serious problems with your air conditioner. • Because of the heavy weight of this product, we recommend that you have a helper to assist in the installation. To avoid injury, use proper method for lifting. Avoid any sharp edges. Make sure the window frame to be used can properly support this product. v_ 1. Install the air conditioner by following the installation instructions enclosed with the product. 2. Do not modify any parts of this product. 3. Do not operate the unit without an air filter. 4. Do not put sticks, rods, etc., into any parts of the unit. 5. Do not obstruct the air intake of the evaporator with a curtain or window blind, as it may result, in insufficient cooling power and abnormal operation. 6. Operate your air conditioner from a stable 115 Volt AC power supply. 7. Plug into a separate 15 amp rated grounded outlet only. 8. Use of Extension Cords. Avoid using an extension cord. If necessary use a cord that is UL approved 3-wire grounding type, rated 125 volts with a minimum current-carrying rating of 15 amps-number 14 or heavier wire. 9. Use a 15 amp time delay fuse or a circuit breaker. 10. Do not install the unit close to any places where inflammable gas, fumes or soot may be generated. 11. If the outside of the cabinet is in direct sunlight, consider building an awning to shade the cabinet while providing ample area for the heated air to be exhausted from the condenser (both sides) and the top. This unit is designed for installation in standard double hung windows. NOTE: The unit may also be installed “through the wall”. You should, however, observe standard carpentry practices and frame the opening without violating local ordinances. 1 PREPARATION OF AIR CONDITIONER CHASSIS It is much easier and also safer to install an empty cabinet in a window and we suggest you do so. NOTE: Do not remove any internal styrofoam from the unit, it is part of air guider. Do not pull on STYROFOAM AIR GUIDER as damage may occur. 1. Remove the air conditioner from carton. 2. Remove the chassis locking brackets (2 screws) and save for later use. 3. Remove the Temperature Control Knob, Main Control Knob and then remove the control panel. 4. Remove the grounding wire screw and save for later use. 5. Slide out the chassis from the cabinet by pulling on the chassis grip. 2 HOW TO ASSEMBLE THE EXPANDABLE PANELS Top angle Type C screw Type C screw Panel retainer Bottom angle — Expandable panel Type B screw Attach the top and bottom angles to cabinet using screw type C (6 pcs). Insert expandable panels to cabinet sides as shown. Insert a panel retainer plate in the first fold of each expansion panel and secure panels to cabinet using screw type B (2 each).
