Return both to your place of purchase. . If the charge time lamp does not light when the power cord is connected to the receptacle, disconnect the power cord, and check that the battery is attached correctly. . The battery retains heat when used or left for prolonged periods in direct sunlight. In this state, the charge time lamp flashes red, and the battery cannot be charged immediately. Leave the battery inserted in the charger, and charging will commence when the battery cools down. . If the lamp goes out while charging, disconnect the power cord, and leave for 3 to 5 minutes before reconnecting. If the problem persists, call for repairs. . Leave 5 minutes between charging batteries as the charger may overheat leading to malfunction. . The battery life is finished if it can only be used for short periods even when fully charged. Purchase a new battery. Continuing to use a depleted battery may cause the charger to malfunction. NOTE: . Charging times may be longer depending on the surrounding temperature and battery conditions. . Charge time lamp indications are only a guide, and may vary depending on the surrounding temperature and battery conditions. . Remove the battery from the charger when not in use. How to make the batteries perform longer. . Recharge the batteries before they become completely exhausted. When you feel that the power of the tool becomes weaker, stop using the tool and recharge its battery. If you continue to use the tool and exhaust the electric current, the battery may be damaged and its life will become shorter. . Avoid recharging at high temperatures. A rechargeable battery will be hot immediately after use. If such a battery is recharged immediately after use, its internal chemical substance will deteriorate, and the battery life will be shortened. Leave the battery and recharge it after it has cooled for a while. PRIOR TO OPERATION 1. Power switch Ensure that the switch is in the OFF position. 2. Confirming condition of the environment: Confirm that the work site is placed under appropriate conditions conforming to prescribed precautions. 3. Dust produced in operation The dust produced in normal operation may affect the operator’s health. Either of following way is recommended. a) Wear a dust mask b) Use external dust collection equipment When using the external dust collection equipment, connect the adapter with the hose from external dust collection equipment. (Fig. 5) Notch Hook Cleaner Base Rear hole Dust collector Adapter Fig. 5 4. Changing blades CAUTION: . Be sure to switch power OFF and disconnect the battery from the body when changing blades. . Do not open the lever when plunger is moving. English (1) Open the lever up to the stop. (Fig. 6-arrow I) (2) Remove fitted blade. (3) Insert new blade up to the stop in the blade holder. (Fig. 6-arrow II) (4) Close the lever. (Fig. 6-arrow III) Lever Blade Fig. 6 Blade holder NOTE: . Confirm the protrusions of blade inserted to the blade holder surely. (Fig. 7) . Confirm the blade located between the groove of roller. (Fig. 8) Blade holder Blade Fig. 7 Blade Blade Roller Roller Fig. 8 English 5. Switch operation (1) Lock-off button (Fig. 9) The jig saw is equipped with a lock-off button. To activate the trigger lock, move the button to the lock position. Move the button to the free position to operate the tool. CAUTION: Always lock the switch when carrying or storing the tool eliminate unintentional starting. Lock off button Fig. 9 Lock Free (2) Trigger switch (Fig. 10) This jig saw is equipped with a variable speed controlled trigger switch. The tool can be turned "ON" or "OFF" by squeezing or releasing the trigger. The blade plunger stroke rate can be adjusted from the minimum to maximum nameplate stroke rate by the pressure you apply to the trigger. Apply more pressure to increase the speed and release pressure to decrease speed. Switch Fig. 10 6. Adjusting the orbital operation (1) This Jig Saw employs orbital operation which moves the blade back and forth, as well as up and down. Set the change knob shown in Fig. 11 to “0” to eliminate the orbital operation (the blade moves only up and down). The orbital operation can be selected in 4 steps from “0” to “III”. (2) For the hard material, such as a steel plate, etc., decrease the orbital operation. For the soft material, such as lumber, plastic, etc., increase the orbital operation to increase work efficiency. To cut the material accurately, decrease the orbital operation. Change knob Fig. 11 7. Cutting stainless steel plates This Jig Saw can cut stainless steel plates by using No. 97 blade. Carefully read “Concerning cutting of stainless steel plates” for proper operation. 8. Splinter guard Using the splinter guard when cutting wood materials will reduce splintering of cut surfaces. Insert the splinter guard in the space on the base, and push it completely. (See Fig. 12) Splinter guard Base Insert Fig. 12 9. Chip cover Chip cover prevents chips from flying off and improves ...
