2. DO NOT charge the batteries in an air temperature below 40°F (4,5 °C) or above 105°F (+40,5 °C). This is important and will prevent serious damage to the batteries. Longest life and best performance can be obtained if batteries are charged when air temperature is about 75°F. 3. While charging, the charger may hum and become warm to touch. This is a normal condition and does not indicate a problem. 4. If the batteries do not charge properly: (1) Check current at receptacle by plugging in a lamp or other appliance. (2) Check to see if receptacle is connected to a light switch which turns power off when you turn out the lights. (3) Move charger and tool to a surrounding air temperature of above 40 degree F (4,5°C) or below 105 degree F (+40,5°C). (4) If the receptacle and temperature are okay, and you do not get proper charging, refer to your warranty. 5. The tool should be recharged when it fails to produce sufficient power on jobs which were easily done previously. DO NOT CONTINUE using product with its batteries in a depleted condition. 6. To prolong battery life, avoid leaving on charge for extended periods of time (over 30 days without use). Although continuous charging is not a safety concern, it can significantly reduce overall battery life. 7. The batteries will reach optimum performance after being recharged 5 times during normal usage. There is no need to run the batteries down completely before recharging. If not hanging on conventional sheet rock or plaster walls, please use the appropriate fasteners for that material. • Locate the charging base within reach of an electrical outlet. • Mark the position of both hang holes. • Drill appropriate sized holes. • Insert supplied hardware through hang holes and attach bracket to wall. Check to see that the charging base is firmly attached to the wall so it will not pull out. • Plug in and place the product in position. NOTE: Avoid damaging the cord while fixing the mounting bracket to the wall. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS WARNING: Always wear proper eye and respiratory protection while operating this power tool. • Use clamps or another practical way to secure and support the workpiece to a stable platform. Holding the work by hand or against your body leaves it unstable and may lead to loss of control. • Place blade and shoe lightly against work to be cut. • Switch on saw motor and allow it to obtain maximum speed before applying pressure. TRIGGER SWITCH (FIGURE E) The tool is equipped with a switch lock-off feature to prevent unintentional operation. • To operate the tool, slide the switch lock-off button (2) back and hold it as you pull the on/off switch (1). • After the tool is running, release the switch lock-off button. The tool will continue to run as long as the trigger is depressed. • To turn off, release the trigger switch. There is no provision for locking the tool on. • Hold saw firmly with one hand or both hands (figure E) while cutting. Whenever possible, the saw shoe must be held firmly against the material being cut. This will prevent the saw from jumping or vibrating and minimize blade breakage. BLADE CLAMP RELEASE LEVER (FIGURE F) The CHS6000 accepts both T-shank and universal shank jig saw blades. 1mm or thicker blade recommended. CAUTION: Recently used blades may be hot. To install blade into saw: • Push down on the blade clamp release lever (5) to its full open position as shown in Figure F. • Insert blade shank (11) from the front. 7 90504595 02 CHS6000 Hand SAW 8/16/06 11:11 AM Page 8 (Text Box comment 90511381) • Release the blade clamp release lever. To remove blade from saw: • Push down on the blade clamp release lever to its full open position. • Remove blade. • Release the blade clamp release lever. WOOD CUTTING • Before cutting any type of wood, use clamps or another practical way to secure and support the workpiece to a stable platform. Holding the work by hand or against your body leaves it unstable and may lead to loss of control. • Place shoe firmly against work to be cut. • Switch on saw motor before applying pressure. • Whenever possible, the shoe must be held firmly against the material being cut. This will prevent the saw from jumping or vibrating and minimize blade breakage. METAL CUTTING (FIGURE G) • Use a finer blade for ferrous metals and a coarse blade for non-ferrous materials. • In thin gauge sheet metals it is best to clamp wood to both sides ...
