Amorphous silicon (a-Si) A semiconductor material that is used to make the thin film transistors (TFTs) layer of an active matrix LCD. Aspect ratio The width-to-height ratio of the active area of a display. In general, most monitors have an aspect ratio of 4:3 or 5:4. Wide monitors or TVs have an aspect ratio of 16:9 or 16:10. Response Time Response time is the period required for a liquid crystal cell to go from active (black) to inactive (white) and back to active (black) again. It is measured in milliseconds. Faster is better: Lower response time means faster transitions and, therefore, results in fewer visible image artifacts in the display of fast-moving images.
