E N G L I S H CD © © ® <1 HIGH GAIN INPUT (1) Used for most electric basses. It is 6 dB louder than the Low Gain Input. LOW GAIN INPUT (2) Provided for instruments that have extremely high outputs, which can result in overdriving (distorting) the High Gain input. If both inputs are used simultaneously, the output levels are the same (both are High Gain). BRIGHT SWITCH (3) Provides a preset boost (+8 dB) to treble frequencies. To activate, depress the switch to its "in" position. PUNCH SWITCH (4) Provides a preset boost (+8 dB) to midbass frequencies. To activate, depress the switch to its "in" position. PRE GAIN (5) Controls the input gain of the preamplifier. POST GAIN (6) Controls the overall volume level of the amplifier. The final level adjustment should be made after the desired sound has been achieved. LEVEL (7) Adjusts the output level of the compressor/limiter. COMP/LIM (8) Adjusts the amount of compression (compression ratio). COMPRESSOR ACTIVE SWITCH AND DISPLAY (9) To activate the compressor, depress the switch to the "in" position. The LED will light when the compressor is active. PATCH IN/OUT (10) This is a low level (0.3 V RMS) pre EQ effects patch. To patch an effects unit, connect the OUT jack to the input of the effects unit. Next, connect the output of the effects unit to the IN jack. Remember to always use high quality shielded cables for these connections. LOW (11) An active tone control (shelving type, ±15 dB) that varies the low frequency boost or cut. OPERATION NOTE: Excessive EQ boost, especially of the low frequencies, increases the possibility of speaker damage and sacrifices valuable headroom. GRAPHIC EQUALIZER (12) This nine-band, one octave equalizer provides 15 dB of boost or cut at each center frequency. HIGH (13) An active lone control (shelving type, ±15 dB) that varies the high frequency boost or cut. CROSSOVER (14) The FREQUENCY control varies the crossover frequency from 200 Hz to 2 kHz. Set this control to the desired crossover frequency, keeping in mind manufacturers' recommendations for the speakers being used. To set up the Combo 21OTX for biamp operation, a separate amplifier and speaker cabinet will be necessary. EXAMPLE: Using the Combo 21 OTX, a 115BX™, and a M-3000™ amplifier, connect the HIGH output of the crossover to the PWR AMP IN of the Combo 210TX. Next, connect the LOW output of the crossover to the input of the PV™-4C. Connect the speaker output of the PV-4C to the 115BX. Set the crossover frequency to suit your taste. PREAMP OUT/POWER AMP IN (15) These jacks are provided for in-line patching of effects dcvices. To patch an effects unit, conncct the Preamp Output to the Input of the device. Next, connect (he output of the device to the Power Amp Input (high-quality shielded cables must be used for these connections). The Preamp Output can also be used to route the amplified signal to a mixing console, tape recorder, etc. This patch does not affect the operation of the amplifier. NOTE: The preamp output level is approximately I volt RMS and is of relatively low impedance (600 ohms). Any effects device used in this effects loop must be capable of receiving 1 volt input and providing I volt output in order to properly drive the power amp. The Power Amp Input has an internal switch which disconnects the internal preamp. DDT™ (16) The Combo® 210TX utilizes our patented DDT™ (Distortion Detection Technique) compression circuit to effectively eliminate the possibility of clipping (square wave) the power amplifier. The amplifier should be operated such that the DDT display is not on constantly, but so it is lit intermittently. Wrhcn the display is on all the time, this is an indication that the power amplifier is being driven excessively. T...
