If using some other make of connection cable, please note the following precautions. • Some connection cables contain resistors. Do not use cables that incorporate resistors for connecting to this unit. The use of such cables can cause the sound level to be extremely low, or impossible to hear. For information on cable specifications, contact the manufacturer of the cable. • Be sure to avoid inserting your fingers in the bass reflex ports when transporting or moving the speakers, as your fingers may become wedged and stuck in the ports. 6 Panel Description Left Channel fig.2 Left Channel 1. L Channel Input Jack Connect this to L Channel Output Jack 14 on the rightside unit. For the connection, use the included speaker cable. Right Channel 2. STANDBY Switch 3. STANDBY Indicator When the STANDBY Switch is turned on, the STANDBY Indicator lights, indicating that the unit is ready to produce sound. 4. PHONES Jack When you connect headphones to this jack, no sound will be heard from the speakers. 5. VOLUME Knob This adjusts the volume of devices connected to LINE Input Jack 9 , LINE 1 Input Jack 11 , and LINE 2 Input Jacks 12 . 6. BASS ENHANCER Indicator This lights when the BASS ENHANCER Switch 7 is pressed to turn the function on. 7. BASS Control Knob BASS ENHANCER Switch Switch this on to boost the bass range. The BASS ENHANCER Indicator lights when this is turned on. With the switch in the OFF position, sounds are output without the effect applied. Right Channel fig.3 8. TREBLE Control Knob These adjust the tones of the bass and treble. Set to center to make the tones flat. 9. LINE Input Jack (stereo mini type) The signals from both inputs are mixed when devices are connected simultaneously to the LINE 1 Input Jack 11 and LINE 2 Input Jacks 12 on the rear panel. 10. AC Inlet Connect the included Power cord here (p. 17). Plug it firmly in, so that the cable does not accidentally become disconnected. 11. LINE 1 Input Jack (stereo mini type) The signals from both inputs are mixed when devices are connected simultaneously to the front panel’s LINE Input Jack 9 and the rear panel’s LINE 2 Input Jacks 12 . 12. LINE 2 Input Jacks (L, R) (RCA phono type) The signals from both inputs are mixed when devices are connected simultaneously to the front panel’s LINE Input Jack 9 and the rear panel’s LINE 1 Input Jack 11 . 13. SUB-WOOFER Output Jack Connect your sub-woofer here. Obtain separately any sub-woofer you wish to connect and use. 14. L Channel Output Jack Connect this to L Channel Input Jack 1 on the left-side unit. 1 2 34 567 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 Connections Precautions Concerning Connections Precautions Concerning(Included) Connections and Initial Use • To prevent malfunction and/or damage to speakers or other devices, always turn down the volume, and turn off the power on all devices before making any connections. • Using a connection cable that contains a resistor can cause the sound level to be low. Use a connection cable that does not contain a resistor. • Once the connections have been properly completed, be sure to use the steps described below to turn on the STANDBY Switch. Turning on STANDBY in the wrong order risks malfunction and/or damage to speakers and other devices (reverse the procedure when turning off the STANDBY Switch). < Connected devices > MA-7A> • This unit is equipped with a circuitry protection feature. A few moments are required after the STANDBY Switch is turned on before the unit is ready for normal operation. • If you need to turn off the power completely, first turn off the STANDBY Switch, then unplug the power cord from the power outlet. Refer to Power Supply (p. 5).
