Connecting Skeaker Cord Determine which of the two input connector types you wish to use. * Push Terminals Press the terminal tab and Insert the bare wire of the speaker cord into the hole. When you release the tab, the speaker cord will be held firmly in place. Carefully observe the polarity of the terminals: red is positive (+) and black is negative (-). * Phone Jack The polarity of the plugs is as shown below. Plug Polarity Positive (+) * Never use both the push terminals and phone jack at the same time. (The reason for this is that the push terminals and phone jack are internally connected in parallel.) Attaching the Speaker Holder With the optionally available Speaker Holder (SPH-50), the speaker can be securely mounted on ceilings or walls. * With the Speaker Holder attached, the speaker appears as shown below. (To attach the holder to the speaker, use the supplied M6 X 15 screws and M6 X 1.5t washers.) Protecting the Speakers from Damage Excessive power input can severely damage this speaker system. While the speaker can absorb larger input peaks, be sure the continuous power input does not exceed 50 watts. Placement • The combined weight of the speaker and the holder (SPH-50) is approximately 4 kilograms (9 lbs). Be certain that the particular section of ceiling or wall onto which you intend to attach the speaker will be able to adequately support this weight. • Be aware that high volume levels may produce undesirable resonances (vibrations) in the wall or ceiling to which the unit is attached. Be sure the mounting surface is reasonably solid. • Even though this speaker is magnetically shielded, it may still generate a magnetic field. Never place floppy disks (or any other magnetic storage media) anywhere near the speaker: the magnetic field may erase the data stored on the disks. • The magnetic field generated by this speaker may also cause interference in televisions or video display terminals. In such a case, simple move the speaker away from the monitor. Important Notes • When making any connections with other devices, always turn off the power to all equipment first; this will help prevent damage or malfunction. • Do not subject the unit to temperature extremes (eg. direct sunlight in an enclosed vehicle). Avoid using or storing the unit in dusty or humid areas or areas that are subject to high vibration levels. • Do not expose this unit to temperature extremes (eg. direct sunlight in an enclosed vehicle can deform or discolor the unit) or install it near devices that radiate heat. • For everyday cleaning wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth (or one that has been slightly dampened with water). To remove stubborn dirt, use a mild neutral detergent. Afterwards, be sure to wipe the unit thoroughly with a soft, dry cloth. • Never use benzene, thinners, alcohol or solvents of any kind, to avoid the risk of discoloration and/or deformation.
