TUNING PROCEDURE 1. Press the POWER switch to turn the power on. 2. When the POWER is switched on, the tuner is set to the Auto Mode and the previously selected Standard Pitch setting. * In the Auto Mode, the tuner automatically displays the closest note played by the instrument and whether that note’s pitch is high or low. 3. To change the Standard Pitch, press the CALIB switch. Each time the switch is pressed, the Standard Pitch will increase by 1Hz (430 – 449Hz). 4. To tune an electric or electronic instrument, use the contact mic, an external mic or pickup. Use the INPUT jack to connect the instrument or mic’s cable to the tuner. (When a plug is connected to the INPUT jack, the internal microphone does not operate.) * The contact mic can be used on brass and other similar acoustic instruments. Use the clip on the contact mic to attach the mic to the instrument (bell or other part of the instrument that vibrates). The round silicon pad on the clip contains the pickup mic. If it is not possible to attach the contact mic to the instrument, use the internal mic and play the note as close to the mic as possible. 5. When a note is played on the instrument, the tuner automatically selects the closest note. * At this time, another note can be manually selected by pressing the NOTE switch (each time the switch is pressed the note is increased by one-half step :Manual Mode). Press the AUTO switch to return the tuner to the Auto Mode. 6. Once the selected note is displayed, tune your instrument until the middle tuning guide (green) lights and the needle of the meter display points to “0”. Tune until the needle points to “0”. BATTERY INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT The tuner is not supplied with batteries. Purchase two (2) AAA (1.5-volt) batteries and install as described below. Also, when battery power becomes low, the LCD display will fade. Continued use of the tuner in this condition may cause batteries to leak, resulting in damage to the tuner. Replace the batteries with a new set as soon as possible. . Battery Installation/Replacement Procedure Rear Cover 1. Press the two catches marked OPEN , located on either side of the tuner, and open rear cover. 2. Remove the old batteries and insert a new set of batteries (AAA x 2) making sure their pole positions are properly aligned. 3. Reattach the rear cover to complete battery replacement. Press After replacing the batteries, switch the power on and make sure that the tuner properly functions. After the batteries have been replaced Standard Pitch = 440Hz, Manual note = “A”.
