High humidity . Handle the memory module with care. To avoid injuries to your hands and fingers, do not touch the edges of the components and circuit boards inside your computer. Upgrading Your VAIO Computer > Adding and Removing Memory n108 N Removing and Installing a Memory Module To change or add a memory module 1 Shut down the computer and disconnect all peripheral devices. 2 Unplug the computer and remove the battery pack. 3 Wait about an hour until the computer cools down. 4 Unscrew the screw (indicated by the arrow below) on the bottom of the computer and remove the memory module compartment cover. Pull the latches in the direction of the arrows (1). The memory module is released. . Make sure that the memory module tilts up and then pull it out in the direction of the arrow (2). Remove the new memory module from its packaging. Do not touch any other components on the motherboard. If you want to install only one memory module, be sure to use the lower slot. Do not force the memory module into the slot in a wrong orientation, as it may cause damage to the slot and the module. If an unauthorized battery pack is installed, the battery pack will not be charged and the computer will not function. . Keep the battery pack away from all sources of heat. . Keep the battery pack dry. . Do not open or try to disassemble the battery pack. . Do not expose the battery pack to any mechanical shock, such as dropping it on a hard surface. . If you are not using your computer for an extended period of time, remove the battery pack from the computer to prevent damage to the battery pack. . If you have not used the battery pack for a considerable amount of time, the remaining battery life may become short. This is normal and does not indicate a malfunction.
