Upgrading Memory (Optional) These descriptions are for models with a memory compartment cover. For the replacement or upgrade procedures for the memory of models that do not have a memory compartment cover, please ask for assistance from your service center. There is one memory slot for the user to replace the corresponding memory. Replace or install a new memory module only after shutting the computer down completely and separating the AC adapter from the computer. It is recommended to add memory with the same •• specifications (the same manufacturer and capacity) as that of the installed memory. Replacing Memory Modules 1 Disconnect the AC power adapter after turning off the computer. 2 Insert an object, such as a paper clip, into the Emergency Hole at the bottom of the computer to cut the battery power. If the Power button does not work anymore, that means you successfully shut the power off. If you proceed without pressing the Emergency Hole, the main board and the memory module may be damaged. Emergency Hole The location of the Emergency Battery Hole may differ depending on the model. 3 Remove the screw on the memory compartment cover at the bottom of the computer using a screw driver. Fixing ScrewMemory Compartment Cover 4 Insert a new memory module into the memory slot at an angle of approximately 30 degrees aligning it to the angle of the memory slot. Memory Slot If there is a protective memory cover Loosen the fixing screw to remove the protective cover and insert the memory module. Protective Memory Cover 5 Push the memory module down so that it is completely fixed. If the memory does not fit easily, push the memory module down while pulling the memory module latches outward. Memory Module Latches Upgrading Memory (Optional) 6 Close the memory compartment cover and fasten the screw. If your computer has a protective memory cover, insert the protective memory cover before closing the memory compartment cover. 7 Connect the AC adapter and press the power button to turn the computer on. If you do not connect the AC adapter, the computer will not be turned on even if you press the power button. Removing a memory module Pull the memory module latches outward. The memory module will pop up. Remove the memory module out at an angle of 30 degrees. Upgrading Memory (Optional) Battery Please refer to the following instructions when running the computer on battery power without connecting the AC power. This computer is equipped with an internal battery. Precautions Users cannot remove or replace the internal battery. •• To remove or replace the battery, use an authorized •• service center in order to protect the product and users. You will be charged for this service. Use only chargers specified in the User Manual.•• Never heat the battery pack, put it near or in a fire or use at •• a temperature higher than 60°C, as this may cause fire. Please refer to the system operation environment of •• this manual and operate and store the battery at room temperature. Before using the computer for the first time, make sure to •• connect the AC adapter and charge the battery completely. The location of the internal battery Charging the Battery 1 An internal battery is embedded. Connect the AC adapter to the power input jack of the computer. The battery will start charging. 2 When charging is complete, the Charge LED turns green. Confirming the battery charge in the Taskbar Disconnect the AC adapter and move the mouse cursor over the battery icon in the system tray of the Taskbar to confirm the remaining battery charge. Battery Usage Time Information A battery is an expendable supply, so when using it over a long time, the capacity/battery life is shortened. If the battery life is reduced to under half of its initial time, we recommend purchasing a new battery. When not using the battery for a long time, store the battery after charging it to 30-40% of its capacity. This extends the battery life time.
