When the bin fills to the top and ice can no longer move through the tube, the machine will force the shuttle flag up into the sensor, shutting the machine off. The shuttle actuator, located above the ice bin allows the ice to curl up within it when the bin is full. In this way, there are no loads generated that would tend to lift off the lid of the bin.
