To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug will fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse it. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature by modifying the plug in any way. 1. Door Release Button 2. Hideaway Door 3. Magnet 4. Plug the cord into a standard, 120-volt electrical outlet. 2. Press the Door Release Button and the door will open. (Figure A) 3. Lift the Lever, tip the can on an angle so that the rim is under the metal post. (Figure B) Press the Lever down making sure the Cutter is inside the rim of the can. Because of the hands-free feature, it isn't necessary to hold the Lever down or to hold onto the can during cutting. 4. When the can is opened, the Can Opener will stop automatically. To remove the can, tilt it slightly away from the unit with one hand and raise the lever with the other. 5. You may push excess cord back into the unit and “nest” the plug in the niche under the unit for convenient storage. CAN OPENING TIPS Start Release Figure B • This Can Opener should not be used to open cans that are designed to be opened by another method, such as a pull tab, peel-off foil seal, or rolling key. This Can Opener will not open rimless cans. • If there is a dent in the rim of the can, open the other end or start the cutting action just beyond the dent. Cans with heavy seams, uneven rims or odd shapes may cause the Can Opener to stall. If this occurs, turn the can slightly by hand to aid the cutting action. KNIFE SHARPENING TIPS • Clean and dry knives before sharpening. • Do not attempt to sharpen serrated blades, as this will smooth their edges. Do not attempt to sharpen scissors. USING THE KNIFE SHARPENER 1. The slot in the Sharpener is slanted at an angle for left and right-hand use. 2. Insert the knife into the slot and carefully pull the blade through and slightly up towards you. Repeat Figure C until you achieve desired sharpness. (Figure C) (Cover) Cover 3 CLEANING YOUR CAN OPENER 1. Before cleaning any part of the Can Opener, unplug the cord from the electrical outlet. Wipe clean with a damp cloth or sponge. 2. Be sure to dry the unit thoroughly before next use. Need Help?
