Make sure the wood is at least as thick as the amount of the overhang that exceeds 2 inches. Locate and drill holes on the shim for the screws to pass through. (Longer screws may be needed.) 3. With the doors of the cabinet open, use the 1/4” Mounting Spacer Assembly as a guide for marking the holes. If your cabinet has an overhang, slide it forward until the two small tabs (B) on one side of the Assembly touch the inside surface of the overhang. If your cabinet has a flush bottom, place the Spacer Assembly approximately 3/4” back from the front edge of the cabinet. When the Spacer Assembly is properly located, mark through the holes in the Assembly onto the underside of the cabinet. (C). Remove the Spacer Assembly. 4. Empty the contents from the bottom shelf of the cabinet. Clean the underside of the cabinet. Cover the counter top to catch wood chips from drilling. CAUTION: Suitable eye protection is recommended to prevent possible injury from shavings while using a drill. 5. Make a small starter hole by hammering a nail or using a smaller drill bit. Holding the 1/4” drill straight and vertical at the hole marks, drill up through the bottom of the cabinet. 6. Place a plastic washer on each screw with the flat side of the washer resting on the cabinet shelf. Drop the screw through the drilled hole from inside the cabinet. Repeat the procedure with the remaining screws and washers. 7. For cabinets with an overhang, push the proper number of Spacer Assemblies (determined in Step 2 - see chart) onto the four screws showing through the cabinet bottom. Line up the 4 holes in the top of the Can Opener with the exposed screw ends beneath the Spacer Assemblies and tighten the screws into the threaded nuts at the top of the Can Opener. (D) For flush bottom cabinets, you will not need Spacer Assemblies. Simply line up the 4 holes in the top of the Can Opener with the Screws and tighten the screws into the threads at the top of the Can Opener. 8. Drape the cord toward an electrical outlet and use the Cord Hook to hold the cord out of the way. Peel off the adhesive back of the Cord Hook and attach to the underside of the cabinet or back wall. NOTE: For safety, NEVER ATTEMPT TO USE TACKS THROUGH OR AGAINST THE CORD TO HOLD IT. TO OPEN A CAN 1. Plug the cord into an electrical outlet 2. Pull the Can Opener down until it clicks into place. (E) 3. Position the can so that the Locating Tab is resting on the can rim. (F) 4. To start, press the Operating Switch down and let go of the can as it starts to turn. (F) The Retractable Magnet will automatically drop down onto the lid and remain there until the cutting action has stopped. It is not necessary to hold the Operating Switch or the can during the cutting action. NOTE: For extremely large cans (over 2 lbs.), it is recommended that you support the bottom of the can as it is opened. 5. When the can is opened, the Can Opener will automatically shut off. If the lid is not completely cut, push and hold down the Operating Switch until the lid is fully cut from the can. 6. To avoid dripping or splatter, carefully pull the cut can lid out from the magnet holder before removing the can. (G) 7. To remove an opened can, hold the can with one hand and push the Operating Switch up with the other. The Retractable Magnet will automatically lift to allow for easy removal. KNIFE SHARPENING TIPS (Model EC900 only) • Clean and dry knives before sharpening. • Do not attempt to sharpen serrated blades, as this will smooth their edges. Do not attempt to sharpen scissors. • Do not force the knife blade against the Grinding Wheel, as this may cause uneven sharpening. • Do not leave the blade in one spot. • The Grinding Wheel is specially designed to prevent “burning” of the knife blade. If the Wheel stalls or stops, the blade is being pressed too hard against the Wheel. • Do not use the sharpener for more than 5 minutes at one time. Allow it to cool at least 15 minutes after sharpening knives before using again. This will prevent motor burnout due to overheating. Care Guide Need Help? USING THE KNIFE SHARPENER (Model EC900 only) 1. Pull the Can Opener down until it clicks into place. NOTE: It is normal for the Metal Gear Wheel which turns the can while opening to rotate when using the Knife Sharpener. 2. Press and hold down the Start Lever, and place the knife blade into the right or left slot of the Knife Sharpener until the blade lightly touches the grinding wheel. (H) 3. Carefully pull the knife blade through the Sharpener Slot toward you slowly. For best results, sharpen the entire blade length in one continuous stroke. Pull the blade through one slot, then change to the other. Repeat 5 or 6 times on each side†. 4. Wash and dry your knives after sharpening. NOTE: After sharpening, move the Operating Switch back up to the start position before closing the Can Opener. † For most knives, 5 or 6 passes per side will be adequate. However, those knives made out of very hard steel or that are very d...
