Refer to page 28 for further details. • If this button is pressed while some other on-screen display is on the screen, the adjustment level and the bar scale will not be displayed but the adjustment operation will still work. -24- □ Turning off the sound If the MUTE button on the remote control unit is pressed, “MUTE” will be displayed on the screen as shown in the illustration below and the sound will be muted. If the MUTE button is pressed once more, the on-screen display will be cleared and the normal sound volume will be restored. The volume output level will remain displayed on the screen for approximately three seconds. NOTE: • If the MUTE button is pressed while the on-screen display for another function is currently on the screen, the volume will still be muted but the “MUTE” on-screen display will not appear. • If the power supply is turned off or either of the VOL (+/-) buttons is pressed, the mute setting will be canceled. • It is also possible to have the picture turn off together with the sound when the MUTE button is pressed. Refer to page 38 for details on how to change this setting. When the picture has been turned off in this way, the words “PICTURE MUTE” will be displayed on the screen. Remote control unit PICTURE MUTE Selecting the picture mode In order to obtain better picture quality, two types of picture mode are available for VIDEO/S-VIDEO signals and RGB signals. Use the procedure given below to select the desired mode (NATURAL/DYNAMIC). Setting procedure 1. Press the MENU button.... The MENU screen will be displayed. 2. Use the “A” and “T” arrow buttons to move the cursor to “PICTURE”. 3. Press the ENTER button.... The PICTURE screen will be displayed. 4. Use the “A” and arrow buttons to move the cursor to “PICTURE MODE”. 5. Use the “ and arrow buttons to switch the setting to “NATURAL” or “DYNAMIC” until the best picture is obtained. NATURAL: The picture obtained is appropriate when using this projector in places with standard brightness. Refer to the following page for details on adjustment methods. • If the MENU button is pressed, the display will return to the MENU screen, or the MENU screen will be cleared if it is already being displayed. • If the STD button is pressed while the PICTURE screen is being displayed, “STD” will be displayed in the top-right corner of the screen and the adjustment value being displayed (except for TV-SYSTEM) will be returned to the factory default setting in accordance with the picture mode selected. -25- Adjusting the picture to the desired setting You can adjust the picture settings for any of the input signal sources selected according to the procedure on page 21. The items which can be adjusted vary depending on the type of input signal. The adjustment procedure below describes the on-screen displays when the S-VIDEO signal or the VIDEO signal is being projected. Adjustment procedure 5.
