Installing the remote control 2.1 Inserting the batteries 1 Press the cover inwards and slide it in the direction of the arrow. 1 1 Place two AAA type batteries into the battery compartment, asshown. Replace the cover and click it firmly into place. 2 3 Installing the remote control 3 ENGLISH 2.2 Testing the remote control The remote control has been programmed to operate the most-used functions of almost any brand of TV. Because the SRU 5110 may use different signals for each brand and even for different models of the same brand, it is advisable to test whether your device responds to the SRU 5110. The example below instructs you how to do this. 2 1 Turn your TV on manually or use the original remote control. Tune to channel 1. Check whether all the keys are working. For an overview of the keys and their functions see ‘3. Keys and functions’. 2 • If the TV responds as it should to all of the key commands the SRU 5110 is ready for use. 2 Tip If the TV does not respond at all or not to all of the key commands, follow the instructions under ‘2.3 Setting the remote control’, or for online setup go to: 2.3 Setting the remote control This is only necessary if your TV does not respond to the SRU 5110. If that is the case, the SRU 5110 does not recognize the brand and/or model of your TV and you need to program the remote control to do so. 2 1 Turn on the TV manually or use the original remote control. Tune in to channel 1. Look up the brand of your TV in the code list at the back of this manual. A four-figure code is shown for each brand. Note the code for your brand. 3 3 4 Installing the remote control 3 3 Press the SET UP key until the LED flashes twice and then remains lit. 4 ENGLISH Then enter the code noted in step 2 using the numeric keys. 4 4 5 5 • The LED now flashes twice. • If the LED flashes once for an extended period, the code has not been entered properly or the wrong code has been entered. Start again from step 2. Press and hold the Standby key of the SRU 5110 until your TV switches off (standby). Then release the key immediately. 5 6 6 6 7 • The SRU 5110 is now set to operate your TV. Check if you can operate all functions on your TV with the SRU 5110. • If a key does not function properly, keep it pressed until it works. Then release the key immediately. Repeat this for every key that does not work. • If the TV responds to all of the key commands, the SRU 5110 is ready for use. Do not forget to note your code. Keep the SET UP key pressed for 5 seconds to exit setup mode. 7 • When no key is pressed for 2 minutes or more the remote control will exit setup mode automatically. 7 Installing the remote control 5 ENGLISH Full search setup If your code does not work or if the brand of your device is not mentioned in the code list, you can try setting the remote control with full search setup. 1 Press the SET UP key until the LED flashes twice and then remains lit. 8 9 8 Press and hold the Standby key of the SRU 5110 until your TV switches off (standby). 2 Then release the key immediately. 9 • The SRU 5110 is now set to operate your TV. Full search setup takes about 5 minutes. 3 Keys and functions The illustration on page 2 gives an overview of all keys and their functions. 1 SET UP enters setup mode. 2 Text TV on/off.
