Make sure the AM indicator is lit if the time is AM and not lit if the time is PM. TO SET THE ALARM TO WAKE TO RADIO 1 2 Set the alarm time as previously instructed. Select a radio station and make sure the VOLUME control is set as desired. Slide the ALARM switch to the AUTO position. When the actual time matches the selected preset alarm time, the radio automatically turns on for one hour and 59 minutes and then shuts off. When the actual time matches the selected preset alarm time, Barbie phrases will automatically sound for one hour and 59 minutes and then shut off. 1 TO SHUT ALARM OFF SNOOZE FUNCTION 1 1 To shut off the alarm, press the ALARM/RESET button 1 once and the alarm time will be reset for the next day. Slide the ALARM switch 2 to the OFF position to turn off the alarm and not set it for the next day. The alarm can be temporarily turned off manually by pressing the SNOOZE button; the alarm will turn back on automatically nine minutes later. 9 OPERATION (CONTINUED) OPERATION (CONTINUED) TO ACTIVATE THE SLEEP FUNCTION 1 2 Slide the ALARM switch to the OFF, AUTO or BARBIE position. NOTE: When the ALARM switch is set to the ON position, the SLEEP function will be disabled. Press the SLEEP button, 0:59 will appear on the display and the unit will come on, then release the button. 3 4 To cancel sleep time before it counts down to “00” and turn the radio off, press the SNOOZE button. If you press the SLEEP button 1 again after setting the sleep time, the sleep time will be set to 59 minutes automatically. To turn off the sleep time, press the SNOOZE button 2. NOTE: To select a longer playing time up to a maximum of 1 hour and 59 minutes, press the SLEEP and HOUR buttons simultaneously (the display will show 1 hour and 59 minutes). To adjust the minutes, press and hold the SLEEP button and press the MINUTE button until the desired time is shown on the clock display. There are three option modes for listening to the Barbie phrases. The default setting for the Barbie phrases is bilingual–first press English, second press French. OPTION 1: To hear these phrases in French only, press and hold the GEMSTONE FUN button for five seconds until French is spoken twice; French only will be selected. OPTION 2: To hear these phrases in English only, press and hold the GEMSTONE FUN button for five seconds again until English is spoken twice; English only will be selected. OPTION 3: To reset back to bilingual (English/French), disconnect the AC plug and back-up battery for five seconds, and then connect the AC plug again; the default setting of bilingual will be selected. 12 TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE If you experience a problem with this unit, check the chart below before calling for service.
