With the back of radio facing you, slide down the battery compartment cover. Insert 3 x AAA alkaline batteries ensuring that the + and – marked on the batteries match up with those marked inside the battery compartment as shown. If the belt clip is attached, you will need to remove it first, see ‘Attaching the belt clip’, page 6. Battery low warning When the batteries are low and need replacing, your BT Freeway Mini radio repeatedly gives a double beep. The operation of your radio will be become unreliable when the batteries are low. If the battery level gets too low, your radio will automatically switch off. For long-term storage of your radios it is recommended that you remove the batteries. Slide the battery cover back into place. Removing the belt clip Pull back the release catch, and slide the belt clip up and away from the radio. Press and hold the Menu button for about 3 seconds, until you hear a beep. Your radio will briefly carry out a LCD check before displaying your current channel number. Switching off 1. Press and hold the Menu button for about 3 seconds, until you hear a beep. The radio switches off. Adjusting the volume There are 15 volume levels (v1 to v15) 1. When the radio is switched on, press or to adjust the volume. The display flashes showing the current level. PTT 2. Either press to save your new setting or leave the radio for 5 seconds and your new setting will be automatically saved. The radio gives a confirmation beep. Remember!
