If the ADF roller is dirty, your documents will be dirty after you feed them into the ADF. You can clean the ADF roller using the setting from the menu. NOTE If a paper jam occurs in the ADF, remove jammed paper from the ADF (see “Removing Jammed Paper from the ADF,” on p. 6-6), then perform the procedure below. The LCD returns the machine to the Standby mode. .. 5-18 Routine Cleaning Replacing the Toner Cartridge Replacing the Toner Cartridge This section describes how to remove the used toner cartridge and replace it with a new one. When the message or appears in the LCD, replace the toner cartridge. WARNING Do not throw the toner cartridge into open flames, as this may cause the toner inside the toner cartridge to ignite and result in burns or a fire. CAUTION When you remove the toner cartridge from the machine or the sealing tape from the toner cartridge, handle it carefully. Otherwise, the toner may scatter and get into your eyes or mouth. In this case, rinse out your eyes or mouth thoroughly with water immediately and consult a doctor. IMPORTANT There are some areas inside the machine that are subject to high-voltages and high- temperatures. Take adequate precautions when performing internal inspections to avoid burns or electrical shock. NOTE When removing the toner cartridge, take care not to allow the toner to come into contact with your hands or clothing. If they become dirty, wash them immediately with cold water. Washing with warm water will set the toner and make it impossible to remove the toner stains. 5 Routine 1 Open the toner supply cover. If you do not follow these precautions, the machine may be damaged or the quality of your copy images may be adversely affected. 5 Routine Maintenance 1 Disconnect the power cord. 2 If the machine is connected to a telephone or PC, remove the telephone line or cable. 3 Lift the platen unit lever, slide the platen unit and open the drum cartridge cover. 4 Pull out the shipping attachment inserted in the holder when installing the machine.
