It will not fit through a standard 32-inch doorway. 10. Prepare the unit for handrail installation. Diagram 9. For an easier installation, raise the incline to its maximum height by taking the following steps: a. Plug the treadmill into a power outlet and turn the unit ON. b. Stand to the side of the treadmill and press QUICKSTART (see inset). After a few seconds, the running belt begins moving. c. Press the INCLINE ^ key until the display shows an incline of 15 percent. d. Once the lift stops moving and the display indicates 15 percent, press the Stop (red) button and turn power switch OFF. 11. Remove the lower handrail clamp. Diagram 10. Attach handrails to the side and base brackets. Diagram 11. Important: Attach one handrail at a time. Take the following steps on one side of the treadmill and then, attach the opposite handrail. a. Slide the end of the handrail toward the handrail clamp. Ask your assistant to hold the handrail in place while you insert screw (C) with washer (F). Finger tighten the screw to secure the handrail to the side bracket. See Diagram 11, #1 and #2. b. Attach the lower portion of the handrail. Diagram 11, #3. Align the handrail bracket with the two base mounting holes in the side rail. Place a washer (D) onto each of two screws (C) and insert the screws. Finger tighten. c. Cables protrude from the ends of both handrails and connect the metal strips on the handrails to the receiver inside the display. Once the cables are properly connected, a user’s heart rate appears when the user grasps both touch-sensitive grips. Important: Attach one cable at a time. The cable receptacles mirror the connectors so that they cannot be improperly installed. Do not force a connection! Take time to look for the appropriate cable receptacle. Perform the following steps, one cable connection at a time. a. Slide the end of the cable into its receptacle. Diagram 12, #1. b. Place the excess cable inside the display opening. Place your left hand on the left handrail’s heart rate grip and place your right hand on the right handrail grip. The letters “Hr” begin to blink in the upper right display indicating that a signal is being transmitted. Within about 15 seconds a heart rate appears. Note: If the blinking “Hr” does not appear, turn the unit OFF. Recheck the cable connections and ask someone else to try the test (steps a through c). d. When the test is satisfactorily completed, turn OFF the treadmill and continue with the assembly. 15. Replace the lower handrail clamp. Diagram 14.
