Use this function approximately every 2 weeks, if thewater in your area is very hard. 1. Unplug the iron from the mains socket, set thesteam regulator to the position and fill the water tank with water. 2. Set the temperature selector to the “max” position and plug in the iron. 3. After the necessary warm-up period, the lamp goes out. Then, unplug the iron (veryimportant!). 4. Hold the iron over a sink. Press the “clean” button until approximately one third of the watercapacity of the tank is evaporated. Boilingwater and steam will come out, carrying scaleor deposits that might be there. 5. Release the “clean” button, and gently shakethe iron for some seconds, 6. Repeat the steps 4 and 5 three times until thetank is empty. Then plug the iron in and heat itup again until the remaining water hasevaporated. 7. Unplug the iron and let the soleplate cool down. Wipe the soleplate with a damp cotton clothonly. 3. anti-calc The “anti-calc” cartridge has been designed toreduce the build-up of scale produced duringsteam ironing, helping to extend the useful life ofyour iron. Nevertheless the “anti-calc” cartridgecannot remove all of the scale that is producednaturally over time. (Model dependent) The "secure" auto shut-off function switches off the iron when it is left unattended, thus increasingsecurity and saving energy. After plugging in theappliance, this function will be inactive for the firsttwo minutes in order to give the appliance time toreach the set temperature. Alter such time, if the iron is not moved for 8 minutes while in the upright position or 30seconds while resting on its soleplate or on itsside, then the safety circuit will switch theappliance off automatically and the pilot light willstart flashing. To attach the fabric protector to the iron, placethe tip of the iron into the end of the fabricprotector and press the rear of the protectorupward until you hear a click. To release thefabric protector, pull down on the clip at the rearand remove the iron. Wipe thehousing and the soleplate with a damp cloth only. lf synthetic cloth melts due to too hightemperature on the soleplate, switch off thesteam and rub off the residue immediately with athickly folded, dry cotton cloth. To keep the soleplate smooth, you should avoidhard contact with metal objects. Never use ascouring pad, or chemicals to clean the soleplate. Never decalcify the tank or treat it with detergentsor solvents: otherwise the iron will drip waterwhilst steaming! Tipstohelpyousaveenergy Steam production consumes the most energy. To help minimise the energy used, follow the advicebelow: • Start by ironing the fabrics that requirethe lowest ironing temperature. Check therecommended ironing temperature in the labelon the garment. • Regulate the steam according to the selectedironing temperature, following the instructionsin this manual. • Only use steam if necessary.
