CAUTION. Hot surface. Surface is liable to get hot during use. Important: • This appliance reaches high temperatures and produces steam during use, this could cause scalds or burns in case of improper use. • The steam hose, the housing with the steam generator and in particular the iron can get hot when used. • Never aim the steam at people or animals. • Do not allow the power cable to come into contact with the soleplate (14) when it is hot. Description 1. Steam release button 1a. Steam lock button (only for PL1445) 2. Iron pilot light 3. Steam hose 4. Temperature control knob 5. Iron heel 6. Boiler-heating pilot light 7. Steam switch 8. Steam-ready pilot light 9. Mains cable 10. Housing with internal steam generator. 11. Water tank 12. Lock button 13. Silicone pad 14. Soleplate 15. Anti-calc cartridge Preparations (A) 1. Remove any label or protective covering from the soleplate (14). 2. Place the appliance horizontally on a solid, stable surface. 3. Press down the lock button (12) to take the water tank (11) from the base housing. 4. Turn the anti-calc cartridge (15) clock-wise to “open” mark position to remove it, then fill the water tank with water. Making sure not to pass the “max” level mark. 5. Place the anti-calc cartridge (15) back and turn anti-clockwise to “close” mark position, put the water tank back to base housing. Important: • Normal tap water can be used. To prolong the optimum steam function, mix tap water with distilled water 1:1. If the tap water in your district is very hard, mix tap water with distilled water 1:2. You can inquire about the water hardness with your local water supplier. • The water tank can not be filled while using the appliance. • To avoid damage and/or contamination of the water tank, do not put perfume, vinegar, starch, descaling agents, additives or any other type of chemical product into the water tank. Any damage caused by the use of the aforementioned products, will make the guarantee void. • During it first use the iron may produce certain vapors and odors, along with white particles on the soleplate, this is normal and it will stop after a few minutes. Setting the temperature (B) 1. Check the ironing instruction label on the garment to determine the correct ironing temperature. 2. Turn the temperature control knob (4) to the required setting. . Synthetics .. Silk-Wool ... Cotton-Linen 3. The iron pilot lamp (2) will remain lit while the iron is heating up, wait for around 3’ 30” to let the iron reach the selected temperature, then the iron pilot lamp will go out to indicate that the iron is ready for ironing. Tips: • Sort your garments out based on their cleaning symbol labels, always starting with clothes that have to be ironed at the lowest temperature. • If you are not sure what the garment is made of then begin ironing at a low temperature and decide on the correct temperature by ironing a small section not usually seen when worn. Ironing with steam (C) 1. Plug the mains cable (9) into an earthed socket. 2. Set the steam switch (7) to “” position, the boiler- heating pilot light (6) will illuminate in red while the boiler is heating to produce the steam. 3. Turn the temperature control knob (4) to the required setting and wait until it reaches. 4. The steam-ready pilot light (8) will illuminate in green to indicate that the steam is ready. 5. Press the steam release button (1) to release steam, steam will then be produced from the soleplate (14). 6. You can lock the steam release button by sliding the lock button (1a) down to get the continuous steam (Only for PL1445). Attention: • When ironing on a lower temperature setting “•”, Please press the steam release button (1) only for a few seconds at a time, if you still find that water is dripping out of the soleplate, set the temperature selector to a higher position (make sure that the garment can be ironed on this heat temperature setting). • If there is no any water in the water tank (11) and you press down the steam release button (1), this could potentially damage the unit. • After you stop using the steam button, there might be steam still coming out of the soleplate for a while, this is normal. Please always position the iron horizontally on the silicone pad during use. Ironing without steam To iron without steam, you can set the steam switch (7) in “” position and iron without pressing the steam release button (1). Vapor vertical (D) 1. Set the temperature control knob (4) to the “•••” or max position. 2. You can steam iron curtains and hanging garments (jackets, suits, coats…) by placing the iron in a vertical position and pressing the steam release button (1). Never direct the steam jut at garments that are being worn. Never aim the steam at people or animals. Cleaning & Storing (E) Always unplug the appliance from the mains supply before carrying out any cleaning or maintenance operation on it. 1.
