Control discs The power levels and time functions can be set by rotating the control discs. The control discs are removable. They can therefore be easily cleaned. The control discs can also be removed from the hotplate while it is working. All the hotplates switch off after 3 seconds. The display shows the residual heat indicator oe/ • . If the control disc is put back in place, the hotplate can be reset. Always place the control disc in its compartment with the shiny black side downwards. Storing the control discs The control discs are magnetic. Do not bring the control discs close to magnetic data mediums such as video cassettes, disks, credit cards and other cards with a magnetic strip. They could be damaged. The control discs can also cause malfunctions in televisions and monitors. : For individuals with electronic implants, such as pacemakers and insulin pumps: ! The magnetic fields can also interfere in the correct operation of implants. So, the control discs should never be carried in handbags. They should be kept at least 10 cm from pacemakers. Note: The control discs are magnetic. Metal particles sticking to the lower part could scrape the surface of the hob and the front strip. Thoroughly clean the control discs Programming the hob This section will show you how to program the hotplates. The table contains power levels and cooking times for several dishes. Switching the hob on and off The hob is turned on and off using the main switch. To turn on: press the # symbol. The indicator ‹ for the hotplates is turned on. The hob is ready for use. To switch off: press the symbol # until the hotplates indicator ‹ is turned off. All hotplates are turned off. The residual heat indicator stays lit until the hotplates have cooled sufficiently. Note: The hob switches off automatically when all the hotplates are switched off for more than 10 seconds. Setting the hotplate Choose the power level using the control discs. Power level 1 = minimum power. Power level 9 = maximum power. Each power level has an intermediate setting. This is marked with a dot. Selecting the power level: The hob must be switched on. Turn the control disc of the required hotplate until the desired power level is shown on its display. The hotplate is on. To change the power level: Select a new power level using the control disc. To turn off the hotplate: Turn the control disc until ‹ is displayed. The hotplate turns off and the residual heat indicator appears. Note: If no pan has been placed on the induction hotplate, the selected power level flashes. After a certain time, the hotplate switches off. Cooking guidelines table Power levels affect cooking results. The table below contains some examples. When heating purees, creams and thick sauces, stir occasionally. Cooking times depend on the power level, type, weight and quality of the food. As such they are approximate. Use power level 9 to begin cooking.
