See ‘Environment’ in the Technical Specifications section of this Guide for specifications. • Do not place your Dual-Deck VCR near appliances with electric motors. • Do not put anything on top of your Dual-Deck VCR. Keep liquids and food away from your Dual-Deck VCR. Cleaning the Dual-Deck VCR Cabinet Dust the surface using a soft cloth. Use the dusting attachment of your vacuum occasionally to remove dust from the ventilation holes on the side. Cleaning the Video Heads Your new Go-Video Dual-Deck VCR features a built-in video head cleaner, and was designed and engineered to give you many years of trouble-free operation. However careful maintenance of your Dual-Deck VCR’s video heads will still be required to assure you of continued clear video image quality. Video tape naturally degrades over time and with use. When you play a video tape on your VCR, it deposits small amounts of dirt and oxide (a chemical used in the manufacture of video tapes,) on your VCR’s video tape heads. Your Dual-Deck VCR’s Automatic Head APPENDIX A - CARE OF YOUR DUAL-DECK VCR 55 NOTE: DO NOT attempt to open your Dual-Deck VCR and clean the video heads yourself. Cleaning by any other means than a head-cleaning tape or trained professional will void your warranty Cleaner will catch normal residue, but with heavy VCR use, or the playing of old, well-used or damaged video tapes, the accumulation of dirt over time will cause blurs or streaks in the video and video copy image. If left unchecked this dirt build-up can also eventually degrade or even ruin the video tape heads in your Dual-Deck VCR. To avoid unnecessary repair service charges and maintain your Dual-Deck VCR’s quality video image and copy performance, we recommend that you: • Use only high-quality video tapes. • Periodically clean the Dual-Deck’s video heads at home with a quality ‘wet’, non-abrasive head- cleaning tape. (Tape head cleaners look like blank tapes. Wet head-cleaning tapes require that you add a liquid cleaning agent before you insert them into your VCR. Dry head-cleaning tapes are abrasive and may cause wear on heads.) • With heavy rental tape use, you should consider scheduling an annual professional video head- cleaning (and replacement of the Dual-Deck’s Automatic Head Cleaner) at your local authorized Go-Video service center. Care of Videotapes Do not expose tapes to direct sunlight, extreme heat or extreme cold. Do not disassemble any cassette. Do not touch the tape. Rewind tapes after use and store in protective cases. Remove the record safety tab to prevent recording over previous recordings. Humidity Requirements If your Dual-Deck VCR is suddenly moved from a cold to a warm place, moisture may form inside the unit. Before operating, allow at least 2 hours after plugging in the power cord for your Dual-Deck VCR to dry completely. Failure to do so may cause damage to your Dual-Deck VCR and the tape. See ‘Environment’ in the Technical Specifications section of this Guide for specifications. 56 DISCOVER THE DUAL-DECK DIFFERENCE Service and Warranty Never open your Dual-Deck VCR cabinet or touch the inside parts.
