• After 24 hours check whether the odors have been eliminated. • Change the activated charcoal air filter. See section on "Changing the activated charcoal air filter". Warning messages via the display If several warning messages are displayed simultaneously, deal with each message individually. While a warning message is displayed, buttons cannot be pressed. Temperature alarm (freezer compartment) A temperature alarm is indicated by the required temperature flashing and the ALARM symbol coming on. A signal also sounds if the Tone function has been activated in setup mode. Cause – Power failure – Large quantities of fresh produce placed in the appliance – Fault with the appliance Remedial action • Press the ALARM OFF button .. The signal stops. The highest temperature in the appliance is displayed for several seconds. • Determine the cause of the temperature alarm. NOTE When the required temperature is reached again, the ALARM symbol goes out and the signal stops. Door alarm Cause An appliance door has not been closed properly or has been open too long. Remedial action Close the door. The display goes out. Sensor fault Cause A technical defect is possible. Remedial action Call customer service. Low voltage The display light has gone out. Cause The incoming mains voltage has dropped below the permitted limit value. Remedial action Buttons cannot be pressed. When the mains voltage reaches the stipulated value again, the warning message goes out. If the warning message is prolonged, inform your power supply company. Water fiIter m WARNING m To avoid serious illness or death, do not use water that is microbiological or chemical unsafe or of unknow quality without adequate disinfection or other treatment before or after use of filter. Exchanging the filter m CAUTION m – After installing a new water filter always discard the ice production of the first 24 hours after swichting on the icemaker. – If ice has not been used for a prolonged time, discard all ice cubes in the bin and discard the ice production of the next 24 hours. – If appliance or ice was not actively used for several weeks or months or ice cubes have an unpleasant taste or odor, change water filter. – Air trapped in system may cause water and cartridge to eject. Use caution when removing. – The filter should be changed at least every 6 months. If the following display is indicated: The age of the filter is close to the maximum life time. Order a new water filter. To purchase an replacement water filter contact your local dealer or call 1–800–578–6890. If the following display is indicated: The filter has to be changed immediately. Resetting the filter display NOTE If the filter display is not reset, the next required filter change cannot be signalled by the display. • Rotate the filter cap on the base panel by 90°–180° in an anti-clockwise direction (1.). • Pull the used filter cartridge out of the appliance (2.). • Remove the cap from the used filter (3.). Take a new filter cartridge out of the packaging and remove the protective cap. • Push the cap onto the new filter cartridge (4.). .Push the filter cartridge with the cap in a horizontal position all the way into the opening in the base panel (5.). .Rotate the filter cartridge by 90°–180° gently in a clockwise direction until the cap is in a horizontal position (6.). NOTE The appliance might be used without a water filter. If you choose this option replace the water filter by a water filter substitute cartridge. In this case the filter display might be deactivated to prevent filter change messages. To purchase a water filter substitute cartridge contact your local dealer or call 1–800–578–6890. After each filter change: • Simultaneously hold down the FAST COOLING button * and the ICE button : for 3 seconds. Deactivating the filter display m WARNING m To avoid serious illness or death, do not deactivate the filter display while using an water filter. The appliance might be used without a water filter. If you choose this option replace the water filter by a water filter substitute cartridge. In this case the filter display might be deactivated to prevent filter change messages. To deactivate the filter display: • Simultaneously hold down the SETUP button W and the ICE button : for 3 seconds. NOTE Re-activate the filter display by pressing the FAST COOLING button * and the ICE button : for 3 seconds simultaneously.
