NO. 1690404 NOTE NOTE This kit cannot be used on tractors equipped with a An electric lift is recommended for 38" rotary tiller. Vickers hydrostatic pump. The kit may be used with either the manual lift lever or power lift kit. FRONT OF TRACTOR PTO BRACKET GUARD PULLEY (K) AND GUARD (I) NOT USED WITH 38" ROTARY TILLERS tr® A. Lift Clevis L. B. Take inventory of parts in this kit by referring to the illustrated list (figure 1). Become familiar with their descriptions. 1. Place set collars on the shaft of the lift lever bracket, the larger set collar on the left side, the smaller set collar on the right side of the shaft. The lip (small o.d.) of the left (large) set collar should be facing outward, so that it will fit into the left upright bar assembly on the tractor (figure 2). 2. Insert the shaft of the lift lever bracket through the hole of the left upright bar assembly, then through the hole of the right upright bar assembly (figure 2). e-323 i FORM — 1668896 PRINTED IN U.S.A. 811 3. With the right end of the lift lever shaft flush with the edge of the right upright bar assembly, tighten the right collar setscrew so that there is no side play in the shaft (figure 2). 4. Install the left collar so that the lip (small o.d.) fits flush inside the hole in the left upright bar assembly. Tighten the setscrew (figure 2). 5. To pre-set the length of your cable assembly, assemble the lift cable, hex jam nut, and lift clevis to a length of 41-1 / 8" from center of hole in clevis to center of cable eye. Do not lock jam nut at this time. See figure 1 for correct sequence. 6. Bring cable forward passing it through the guard on the PTO bracket (figure 1). NOTE Installation is different for 38" rotary tillers than for other rear mounted implements. For installation with 38" rotary tillers, use step 7. For all other installations, go to step 8. 7. The pulley and cable guard (figure 1) are not used with a 38" rotary tiller. With the cable other the top of the spacer, attach the spacer inside the u-shaped bracket using the capscrew and locknut as shown in figure 1. The u-shaped bracket is located underneath the frame above the lift lever. 8. Use this step if tractor is not equipped with 38" rotary tiller. With cable over the top of the pulley, attach the spacer, cable guard and pulley to the u-shaped bracket with the capscrew and locknut as shown in figure 3. Note that the cable guard is on outside of u-shaped bracket. The u-shaped bracket is located underneath the frame above the lift lever assembly. Locate the leg of the guard over the cable, so that the cable does not ride against the cable guard (figure 3). Tighten the capscrew and locknut. VIEWING FROM REAR OF TRACTOR Figure 3 9. Attach the end of the cable to the lift lever with pivot pin and 3/32 x 3/4" cotter pin (figure 1). Be sure to install the pin from the left-hand side as shown. To determine which hole to use in the lift lever, see figure 4. LIFT ATTACH LIFT CABLE MOUNTED IMPLEMENTS EXCEPT 38" ROTARY TILLER Figure 4 NOTE A belt stop must be installed to prevent cable from jamming in control mechanisms. This stop is installed differently on hydrostatic drives than on six-speed or semi-automatic models. Install the stop according to step 10 or 11, depending on which tractor you have. 2 10. On hydrostatic drive units, install the belt stop to the inside rear of the left side plate by removing the nut and lockwasher from the rear capscrew holding on the hydrostatic control spring support (figure 5). Place the stop on the capscrew so that the leg of the stop is over the top of the cable. Replace the lockwasher and nut, making sure that there is at least 1/8 inch clearance between the side of the belt stop and the adjusting nut on the hydrostatic control shaft to avoid interference. When the belt stop is properly positioned, hold it in place and tighten the nut on the capscrew. Figure 5 13. Make sure the lift lever bracket can run its full range without interference. On six-speed and semi-auto-matic units, make sure the lift lever bracket does not touch the transmission when fully raised. Adjust the cable length so lift lever bracket clears the transmission by at least 1 / 8" when raised. On hydrostatic drive units, make sure lift lever bracket does not touch tractor when raised. When final lift range has been established, lock jam nut against clevis and secure pivot pin with ...
