Overview
An HP StorageWorks D2D Backup System may be shutdown using a SSH connection to the D2D
appliance. Using this method it is possible to write automated shutdown scripts and executables that
can perform this task when a UPS signals that mains power has been interrupted.
Typically a D2D Backup System will shutdown in less than 30 seconds but in some instances the
shutdown can take up to 6 minutes to complete. It is therefore recommended that once the shutdown
command has been issued, the automated shutdown script should continue with any other tasks that
need to be performed.
In the two examples given, the script/executable will give a return code response to indicate whether
the shutdown command was successfully sent to the D2D Backup System but this does not indicate
that the D2D Backup System successfully shutdown.
For this automated shutdown method to work, the network infrastructure between the UPS monitoring
server and the D2D Backup System must be active long enough for the shutdown command to be sent
over the network.
Software requirements
The D2D Backup System must be running D2D software later than April 2010.

This executable requires .net Framework 3.5 to be installed on the executing server. The application
will return true if the command was successfully issued on the HP StorageWorks D2D Backup System
or false if the command was not sent.
