NOTE:
Version 4.1 of VM Manager supports those features of HP Integrity Virtual Machines
Version 4.1 that are documented in the Integrity VM Manager Version 4.1 documentation.
VM Manager Version 4.1 is compatible with HP Integrity Virtual Machines Version 4.2 but
does not support new features provided by that version of the product.
Features available from VM Manager may depend on the version of Integrity VM on the
VM Host. New VM Manager features described in this document that depend on features
introduced with the latest version of Integrity VM (4.1) are not available when managing a
VM Host that runs an earlier version of Integrity VM.
Operating systems that are supported on guests vary from version to version of HP Integrity
Virtual Machines. For information about supported VM guest operating systems, see the
version of the HP Integrity Virtual Machines Installation, Configuration, and Administration
manual that corresponds to the version of HP Integrity Virtual Machines being used.
HP Integrity VM 4.0 and later runs on HP-UX v3 only. Version 3.5 runs on HP-UX v2 only.

Support for initiating virtual machine migration (online and offline) and for displaying the
status of online virtual machine migration. Online virtual machine migration enables moving
a running virtual machine, along with its guest operating system (OS) and its applications,
to a different VM Host without service interruption. Service remains active without requiring
an OS reboot or application restart. Likewise, all I/O connections remain active throughout
the migration. VM Manager displays the migration state of a virtual machine (on the VM
Host Virtual Machines and VM Properties General tabs). VM manager also supports online
and offline migration of virtual machines configured as a Serviceguard package.
You can see whether a virtual machine is migrating to or from another VM Host. In addition,
the VM Properties General tab displays whether online migration is supported by and
enabled on the virtual machine; and the VM Host General tab displays whether the VM
Host is licensed and enabled for online migration of virtual machines. For more information

Enhanced support for Serviceguard. The VM Host Virtual Machines tab and the VM
Properties General tab display an icon indicating whether a virtual machine participates
as an HP Serviceguard package; flyover text indicates the VM Host actively managing the
virtual machine (Serviceguard guest package). In addition, if a virtual machine is configured
as a Serviceguard package, the VM Properties General tab displays the name of the Integrity
VM multiserver environment (MSE) group. This grouping is required when a set of Integrity
VM servers is also configured as a Serviceguard cluster. Virtual machines configured as
Serviceguard packages automatically fail over to another node in the Integrity VM MSE.

Support for creating files on the VM Host that are used as backing storage devices for virtual
disks (Virtual FileDisks) on virtual machines. You can now use the Create Virtual Machine
wizard Add storage device screen or ModifyAdd storage device to virtual machine...
to create a file for use as a backing storage device for virtual disks. In prior releases, this had
to be done manually from the VM Host command line.

Support for removing network or storage devices from a virtual machine. For more
information, see the HP Integrity Virtual Machines Manager 4.1 Software: User Guide or VM
Manager help.

This release of Insight Dynamics provides the Insight managed system setup wizard. You
can use this wizard to check virtual machines for the appropriate versions of the provider
software and to install provider software as needed on supported platforms. (On a VM Host,
you must install the appropriate providers manually.) The wizard also performs other
services to configure systems so that they can be managed in the Insight Dynamics
